Silver Dip is a neutral non-chromate solution for the immersion
Passivation of silver and silver plated articles. The solution

Solution
Composition: |
Aglotarnil
Silver Dip SF22963 : 334 ml
Water : 1 litre
The
required quantity of water should be heated to 50?C and the
appropriate volume of Aglotarnil Silver Dip should then be
added. The solution should be allowed to cool before use.
|
Equipment |
The
dip should be contained in a molded polythene or polypropylene
tank or if the volume if large, a GRP / polypropylene or Ilex
lined mild steel tank.
|
Operating
Conditions |
The
solution is used at room temperature. The immersion time in
the silver dip should be between 5 and 10 minutes. The longer
time gives the greatest degree of protection.
|
Operating
Procedure |
a)
After silver plating, pass through drag-out tank to enable silver
to be recovered.
b) Rinse plated components thoroughly.
c) Immerse in the Aglotarnil Silver Dip for 5 to 10 minutes.
d) Rinse in cold running water.
e) Rinse in cold running water.
f) Dry in warm air below 50?C. After
immersion in the silver dip, the surface of the silver should
be completely water shedding.
|
Maintenance: |
The
solution volume will fall during use due to drag-out. Allow
the level to fall to a predetermined point in the tank and then
top up with water. When with continued use, the level falls
to the same point again, top up with Aglotarnil. If this alternate
water and Aglotarnil topping up procedure is followed, the solution
will remain in balance.
